Total Metis – Papua New Guinea

Seismic Mechatronics developed mobile and portable electric seismic sources (e-vibs) that Total Metis – Papua New Guineawere tested within the framework of the Total Metis project in Papua New Guinea.

The Total Metis project is focused on breakthrough technologies that improve the quality of subsurface imaging and enable geophysical imaging in inaccessible terrains.

The portable Lightning seismic source was used and compared to other impulsive sources and proved to be a valuable source for difficult environments such as those found in Papua New Guinea.

The short video below shows the Lightning system being used in P-wave mode. Although, the system is sweeping you are unable to hear the source. The use of electromechanical technology establishes a frictionless device, greatly enhancing the frequency bandwidth and lowering noise (dB). More videos.
