Shear wave source used for a TBM

Seismic Mechatronics and MI-Partners are part of the NeTTUN consortium. The NeTTUN consortium is a European consortium of 23 industrial, Research and Development laboratories and SME organisations across 9 countries. The project will enable groundbreaking change in the construction, management and maintenance of tunnels.

Seismic Mechatronics and MI-Partners developed a shear wave (and p-wave) seismic source, called the Lightning, that is capable of looking ahead of the tunnel boring machine, generating clear images of the subsurface within a hour.
